Strategy Development and Implementation. Interim Management. Crisis Management.

In this section, we would like to explain in more detail what this service consists of:
01

Defining the “starting point”: what is the current business situation? What is its dynamics? What are its financial results? Where is value being created within the company, and where is it being lost?

02

Identifying the company’s and its owners’ strategic resources on which it is advisable to build a new vision for the company’s development.

03

Identifying the most attractive business opportunities (within the company) and market opportunities (outside the company).

04

Combining the results of the first three steps into the development of a detailed vision for the company’s future (together with the company’s key people). Determining the sequence for implementing the identified opportunities.

05

Assisting in communicating the changes within the company and conveying the strategy to employees.

06

Fine-tuning the existing or developing a new organizational structure for the company (and, in some cases, also its legal structure). Filling in the new organizational structure with the right people.

07

Fine-tuning existing or developing new key organizational systems, namely: the motivation system, the personnel evaluation system, the management reporting system, and the control system.

08

Developing in detail the most complex components of the development plan (in marketing, sales, logistics, IT, etc.) and coordinating their implementation.

09

Fine-tuning existing or developing new key business processes, including their implementation.

10

Monitoring progress against the established plan: adjusting the plan, the organizational structure, business processes, and replacing certain employees if necessary. Typically, around 20% of the initial vision for the company’s development requires adjustment during the following 2–3 years of implementation.

Depending on the specific situation, some of the above steps may be carried out in parallel. In different cases, the sequence of their implementation may also vary.

For example, it sometimes becomes clear at a very early stage that the company needs to reorganize its sales function as quickly as possible.

In such cases, we immediately begin working on this area in order to generate a positive impact for the company as quickly as possible, while simultaneously continuing to develop a detailed vision of what the company should focus on over the next several years.

What should you expect from the collaboration?

Using a three-year period of working with a client’s business as an example, our team, working together with the client’s team, is typically able to achieve the following:

First year:

To create a new, stronger foundation for the company’s dynamic development over the following years. During the first year, the first visible signs of positive business transformation usually begin to emerge (including improvements in financial performance).

Second year:

A period of significant growth begins, which is already clearly reflected in the company’s financial results.

Third year:

In conjunction with the sustained growth, the company, now delivering record financial results, depending on its starting point, begins to target national industry leadership or further strengthen its position as a leader. In one case from our practice, a company achieved global market leadership.

Self-sufficient Companies

Throughout the entire period of cooperation with the client’s company, we generally do not hold formal positions within the company (although there have been exceptions). However, through close day-to-day collaboration and alignment of all major decisions with the owner (“all” decisions or only the “key” ones depend on the degree of personal involvement chosen by the owner), we have sufficient influence to implement changes of any scale.

By “self-sufficiency”, we mean that the business system should continue to function effectively after we leave the company.

Our goal is to create a beautiful, commercially aggressive, highly profitable, and, most importantly, self-sufficient business.
Extensive Experience in Launching New Projects

Until 2009, the majority of our activities were related to launching new projects for our clients. In the past, we even used the corporate slogan “we specialize in new ventures”, which has no longer reflected reality since 2009.

Nevertheless, even today, at any given time, we comprehensively coordinate the creation of two or three companies from scratch. Although this work is not necessarily more complex than transforming and developing existing companies, we would like to emphasize our continuous involvement in new ventures, as this type of work requires special qualities and capabilities from our team.

Industry Non-specialization

RAIN works across a wide range of industries: food production, healthcare, various retail and distribution businesses, apparel manufacturing, the defense industry (since 2022), real estate, recreation, chemicals, agriculture, renewable energy, telecommunications, woodworking, and others. We believe that lack of deep specialization in a particular industry provides us with a number of advantages.

In particular, by working across diverse industries, we are able to:

01 Bring a fresh perspective to an industry and its external environment. This regularly helps us to identify opportunities that are often more difficult for industry insiders to recognize.
02 Transfer best practices from one industry to another, which often proves highly effective.
03 Better identify and monitor broader consumer trends.
