About the Company

RAIN’s core business is interim management of clients’ companies, through which we transform and develop those businesses. Unlike what is commonly referred to as “consulting services,” since 2008 we have been successfully implementing the business plans we develop ourselves while simultaneously addressing every challenge and issue that arises along the way.

The Evolution of RAIN
2001 - 2007

From 2001 to 2007, RAIN’s primary services were the assessment of commercial/investment attractiveness and the development of project concepts (at that time we operated under the name Capital Strategy). Today, these services, with which we began our business, represent only a small part of what we do.

2007 - 2017

Beginning in 2007, RAIN’s clients increasingly become business owners who were dissatisfied with the results or growth trajectory of their existing companies and sought to fundamentally improve their profitability, manageability, and long-term prospects. Over the past 20 years, we have worked alongside our clients to develop a new, detailed vision for transforming and growing their businesses. More importantly, we then implement the strategy together with them, and RAIN is often the party primarily responsible for delivering the results.

2017 - 2022

In 2017, we revised our own strategy and deliberately set out to export our services to Western markets. Over the past several years, RAIN has become a trusted partner on analytical and research projects for L.E.K. Consulting (more than 50 completed projects across dozens of countries), Alira Health (hundreds of completed projects across dozens of countries), Simon-Kucher & Partners (more than 100 completed projects across dozens of countries), and Clearstate, formerly part of The Economist Intelligence Unit (more than 100 completed projects across dozens of countries).

2021 - ...

Alongside our work for clients in Ukraine and around the world, RAIN’s key team members have increasingly focused on building their own businesses – typically from scratch or from a very early stage. This allows us to apply our accumulated experience to maximize value for ourselves while creating “beautiful” businesses. At the same time, this entrepreneurial experience significantly strengthens our capabilities in client projects: we do not simply talk about entrepreneurship – we personally face and solve a wide variety of complex challenges in our own businesses every day.

Even after the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022, we have continued along this path while simultaneously serving our clients.

Our Principles

Our principles form the core of our approach to work. They are the rules that every member of our team applies daily and the cornerstone of our growth. Together, these principles create a unique corporate culture that is much easier to absorb and put into practice by individuals who have not yet become accustomed to a different organizational culture. This is one of the main reasons why we typically hire talented young graduates and develop them professionally within the company from the very beginning of their careers.

Some of the most important principles that guide us are:

Focus on building beautiful businesses.

At the same time, do not forget your commercial interests. But always in that order – not the other way around.

01
Be humble.

Few virtues offer as much potential for personal growth and future development as humility.

02
Do not think – or claim – that you know everything.

Instead, be confident and demonstrate that you know how to find and gather the necessary information (much of which must be obtained “in the field”) and draw the right conclusions from it.

03
Be like water.

When faced with new situations and circumstances, do not rush to rely on familiar patterns. Just as water finds a new course through unfamiliar terrain, you should discover the best path under changing conditions.

04
Look before you leap.

We also say: think before you act.

05
Business is not rocket science – focus on simple things that work.

In other words, return to the fundamentals. We are often surprised by how frequently well-educated business leaders become absorbed in complex business concepts and terminology while, for example, neglecting their product and failing to devote even a fraction of the attention it deserves. In our observation, the fundamentals of business have incorrectly fallen “out of fashion” in many business circles today.

06
Many, if not most, precious gems are already inside the company. You simply need to find and polish them.

More often than not, this principle proves true when we search for ideas to incorporate into a company’s long-term development vision or when identifying the right future leaders for the organization.

07
No system works without the necessary pressure.

Having observed people’s natural tendency to remain in their comfort zones for as long as possible - even in the presence of strong financial incentives – we believe that applying the right amount of pressure can dramatically accelerate progress. For this reason, we consistently apply the level of pressure required for progress, both within our own company and while implementing change in our clients’ businesses.

08
It is better to correct a mistake later than never.

In other words, never become emotionally attached to your own decisions – you may need to change them in the future. Given the large number of decisions we make, we occasionally make mistakes. As soon as we recognize them, we correct them promptly.

09
The eyes are afraid, but the hands keep working.

Our mothers probably taught us this principle well. It truly helps us tackle even the most difficult challenges.
